Reporter: Brian Cherinka

Reported by [~kmyrick] during DMS testing of Jdaviz in MAST.  Spectral regions fail to display, or are difficult to find, in the 1d spectrum view when creating a spectral region in the 2d image view.  Also subsequent new subsets created in the image view fail to display in both the image and spectrum views.

To reproduce,

  • Go to [https://masttest.stsci.edu/viz/jwst/spectra?uri=mast:JWST/product/jw00643-o028_s00000_nirspec_f290lp-g395m_s2d.fits]
  • In top image view, create a new rectangular region from the Toolbar menu
  • A red subset 1 is created
  • No subset is displayed in 1d panel below.
  • In top image view, create a 2nd brand new spectral region subset.
  • Subset2 is created but fails to display in either the image or spectrum view.

To try and find it, I  also did the following:

  • In top Image View, changed Min/Max in the Layer to 95%
  • In the spectrum view, hid the main spectrum in the Layer, and changed the pixel thickness to 50 for the Subset1.
  • Change the scale, and zoom in directly around the subset selection
