Could anyone from the Elasticsearch team give an official answer about this?

Yeah, the tutorial is gone from the site. I've been already thinking about converting it to a Wiki page within this repository, as @robertomiranda suggests. I'll try to fish out the original Markdown source and images from my harddrive or Git, and add it.

Most importantly, the cookbook is unfortunately in a somewhat limbo state, principially due to limited resources on my side. There's an ongoing effort in rewriting it from scratch, to respect current Chef coding standards and best practices.
