archive.org has a snapshot from 2014-08-07 : https://web.archive.org/web/20140807201921/http://www.elasticsearch.org/tutorials/deploying-elasticsearch-with-chef-solo/ but given that the article is from 2012 I'm not sure that the content is still relevant.

Could anyone from the Elasticsearch team give an official answer about this?

Yeah, the tutorial is gone from the site. I've been already thinking about converting it to a Wiki page within this repository, as @robertomiranda suggests. I'll try to fish out the original Markdown source and images from my harddrive or Git, and add it.

@mausch In the meantime, have a look at this gist, which has the important parts of the tutorial: https://gist.github.com/karmi/2050769#file-__readme-markdown

Most importantly, the cookbook is unfortunately in a somewhat limbo state, principially due to limited resources on my side. There's an ongoing effort in rewriting it from scratch, to respect current Chef coding standards and best practices. The work is happening in the next branch: https://github.com/elasticsearch/cookbook-elasticsearch/issues?q=label%3Anext

Hello! We've re-written the cookbook using libraries that expose resources and providers, so you can expect forthcoming posts about how to use the new version. Hope this helps!
