A SchemaCriterion should be encoded as a string, e.g. iglu:com.acme/name/json/*-1-*. Previously, the codecs in iglu-scala-core serialized it as a json object, but this got fixed in the 1.0.1 release.

The custom codecs in snowplow-badrows can therefore be removed, and we can use the default ones provided by iglu-scala-client.
