Constructive criticism to battle FuckAdBlock and support ad-blocking. #101
Comments
well, then how web admin get revenue to run server, produce page, etc? |
Got some extra points that I believe aren't mentioned. I don't know if this point is what 7 is supposed to state, but there's the overbearing issue of scam ads. Ever go onto a site like sourceforge(because sometimes you just need to) and try to download some program, only to see 5 different download buttons, out of which 4 are ads trying to scam you into downloading some virus. Performance is also an issue of ads. If we only get small image ads, then fine by me as long as they're not disruptive, but some sites have multiple video ads playing at once, which makes some systems(mine included) grind to a halt. |
That's the problem. You focus only on the revenue ignoring all the aspects. I aim to achieve both assured income on ads with sustainable, fair, minimal, and safe ads experience. Besides, let me gently remind you that tons of people run and provide quality content for free. While I can't fight points 4, 5, 6, and 8, though they remain legit, the remaining points must be a priority. Period. Most people use ad-block for security reasons as nobody wants to click on random malware or a porn site. Perhaps, you'd do a better job creating an ad block that allows only safe content to be advertised on a sustainable scale. |
We are already doing that in our service, and adblocker doesn't care that and simply block it
With the exception of some very very rich people, it would be impossible to spend $400,000 a month in good faith for services.
There are many such products in the market, but most are just not used/option turned off. Apart from all the problems, this project is just a library to see if the ad blocker presents with a simple div element. I really dont know why people don't offer realistic alternatives and just creating tons of issues like "I just hate this, this shows me ads" |
What's the deal with this discussion about an unmaintained 7-year-old resource anyway? Just as you have the right to block ads, the site owners also have the right to detect and encourage people to disable ad-blocking software. Your statement is simply unfounded. |
Yes, I hate FuckAdBlock. Yes, I hate ads. Yes, I hate from the heart everybody tries to monetize everything nowadays.
Mr. Valentin Allaire (@sitexw) Does it make me rude to you? Nope. Unlike others, my goal is to share a fair criticism of this repository. I am interested in discussing with you to find out your morals, and motivation behind this project and to take this repository down. Carry on.
I encourage everybody helping me to complete my list politely and constructively (I am open to continuous updates) and battle against this repository.
