I also hit this issue. As a work around disconnecting my network, launching the app and then reconnecting to network works for now. Given some pointers I’m happy to try debug this further, but I would appreciate some pointers. A quick ktrace of datasette processes and poking around in chrome dev tools within the app window showing the spinner and logs showed no obvious issues or errors. |

The workarounds do prevent the error on line 44 for me, but the problem persists. It's still stuck at the loading screen. No further errors in terminal. This is on mac OS 12.3.1. |

I'm not sure if I broke something by updating some python libraries, or if something else is wrong, but I can't get Datasette desktop to load fully.
It hangs on the Loading... window, with the spinner going, and the below in the traceback window. If I just close the window manually, I get the custom menus (File > Open CSV... for example); the File menu items load the proper open-file dialog, but selecting an .sqlite or .csv file (as appropriate) does nothing.
Any suggestions for what I might have done to break the app, or how I can troubleshoot?
I've tried deleting the app, re-downloading and reinstalling. I'm running Catalina (10.15.7) on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports).
Here's the what's in the loading window when it hangs:
