Limit to number of circles/markers displayed?

I'm running into a problem with displaying more than 139 entries on a map. I have to set a "head 139" as at 140, I get an error. Perhaps this is documented, but I didn't see it. As an aside, I'm using Canvas to display circles.
I'm also wondering if it is possible to display a blank map or "No Results Displayed". When everything is OK (i.e., nothing comes up in my query) I have no results to display. This is returned as "Error rendering Maps+ visualization.". Perhaps there is a way to just display something unobtrusive with a makeresults. If so, I am happy to do that. Thanks
