Have you had any considerations for extending this to include an NSS switch for users / groups / passwords?
This would also be a good approach to get rid of updating the local /etc/passwd (and /etc/shadow probably) and /etc/group files, and is not as heavy as installing an LDAP server. Although of course one would need to discuss the security considerations for the "shadow" part for sure and it would most certainly need an accompanying PAM module ...
Anyway, just some thoughts/questions that popped into my head. Thank you very much for the start with this module!
