OpenType Features in Google Docs?

One of the best things about Inter is the range of OpenType features available, particularly options that disambiguate characters, like the slashed zero and "l" with tail. I'm looking for a way to use OpenType features in Google Slides and Docs so all our communications can benefit from character disambiguation - not just our website.

Does anyone know of a valid pathway to achieve this? Here are some ways I can think of:

• Publish an alternate version of Inter to Google Fonts. Something similar has already been done with Inter Tight, so maybe this is an actual possibility
• Get Google to add OpenType support to their tools (seems unlikely)
• It seems that big companies can get their own fonts added privately to Google Fonts. I'm guessing my employer is not big enough for this, but I've seen it at some companies we partner with
• Don't use Google Slides and Docs if you care this much about typography
