What happened?

Based on #2662
It would be great to be able to disable any output from the 'extra' field within zotero, as information here is frequently populated by undesired bits and pieces and the default zotero biblatex ignores this field when exporting.

But those undesired bits are usually non-parsable fields remaining after picking up meaningful extra fields. I have an idea on those kinds of remainders, but for the parsable fields, I'm not sure.

If the extra field is populated with parsable data (as it is in HLM7FSNG-refs-euc) that is because the Zotero translator has decided it is relevant to the item, and it is put there because the Journal article item type does not support a publisher field; if it had, the translator would have put it there. From the PoV of the import translator, what was put in the extra field is not undesired bits and pieces, but a functional workaround for missing functionality in Zotero.

It's like a DOI line in extra. Very few Zotero item types support DOI today, but the citation processor inside Zotero supports DOI for all item types, and it's what Zotero recommends today for DOI information. When Zotero does add a DOI field to all items (which it will soon) the data will be migrated there, but functionally, nothing will change if you're a wysiwyg Zotero user, or a BBT user. Whereas if you export using the stock bib(la)tex exporter, something will functionally change after the DOI field is added.

I understand the argument. Perhaps it generates more problems than it solves but as far as I can see, an option to ignore the extra field when exporting (to match the, potentially flawed, default zotero behaviour) would be useful.
