Given that a typical University main subscription is paid through an Enterprise Agreement is there scope for a research group to pre-pay or deploy a different billing model for a sub-subscription?

Can someone confirm if Azure in Open subscriptions can be combined with an EA (I was told specifically by our reseller that this was 'against the rules')?

Yes there is.

Researchers, Teaching Fellows or Students can be allocated subscriptions either through the Enterprise Portal or via the Education Hub (see separate issue for this...).

In addition, it is possible to purchase additional subscriptions outside of the Enterprise Agreement such as Azure in Open (pre-pay credits) or as pay-as-you-go by providing a Credit Card to bill against.

Some resellers might not be aware that this is possible. But it is.
