Issue description

i clone the repo and i ran zig build in the src directory

Environment

I am using Linux pop-os 6.2.6-76060206-generic #202303130630~1683753207~22.04~77c1465 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed M x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and Zig version is 0.11.0-dev.2680+a1aa55ebe

I made a pull request to fix that and it got merged
#3064

@ryupold there is an open PR trying to address some issues with Zig building: #3060

Do those changes conflict with merged PR? Should they be merged?

It will probably be a merge conflict but you can take the changes from #3060 and override my changes with theirs as they look better documented.
