Prerequisites

  • I have searched for existing issues that already include this feature request, without success.

Describe the Feature Request

Add accounts and your available money, all of which then gets budgeted into categories

Describe the Use Case

That approach would help keep an overview of one’s entire finances (how much is there, where it is supposed to go). It also motivates one to stick with a budget as it makes clear that the money has to come from a different category.

I understand that this is a different approach from what Dime is currently doing, so I’d completely understand if it doesn’t make it, but I thought I’d try anyway.

Additional Information

Implementation ideas:

  • Account selection when entering a new transaction
  • Option to filter transactions by account
  • Budget view showing budgeted, spent, and balance per budget
  • Option to switch between different months/weeks
  • Show total "to budget" value
