rtorrent io read heavy #409

I also noticed the 2. point. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bug :) |
If you are compiling for a 64bit CPU arch, try setting the max memory way higher (past the 3/4GB barrier due to 32bit address spaces). I haven't looked into the max memory default setting and the autoconf scripts that decide on that in many years. It makes the assumption that it will be compiled as a 32bit binary. Also the read issues can also probably be alleviated by setting higher socket buffer sizes, e.g. such as:

Yes, this is a "known" problem with excessive reads of ~10x the UL. It is really taxing the io subsystem with todays common high speeds connections and it will only get worse with increased connectionspeeds. |
The download speed of rtorrent is 8MB/s and the dsm shows the download speed as 20MB/s.
It seems that the speed of read files is 10x of the fact speed of the upload speed.
My env:
OS: Fedora 22 16G mem
rtorrent:0.9.6/0.13.6 10 torrents(200G)
DSM: 5.2-5644
