Important info (prior to getting stuff to smoke)

Arduino Pro mini

• AVCC and AREF seems to be shorted due to missing QA during assembling on my pro mini, what effects can this have? According to the datasheet of the MEGA328P this should not be connected. I ordered a similaire some months ago and it had the exact same issue but never got the time to look at it and fix it. The board used seems to be like this bare PCB and a soldered closeup with MEGA328P pinout can be seen here.

Untested but listing stuff to try out first

• The CP2102 Breakout USB2TTL adapter is per default set to 5V, on the back you can cut the connection from 5V to the middle and make a bridge from 3V3 to the middle in order to use it on 3.3V level
