After updating from pytest-mock 3.7.0 to 3.8.0, the following import error crashes the test suite:

  File "/opt/conda/envs/gis/lib/python3.7/site-packages/pytest_mock/plugin.py", line 33, in <module>
    import mock
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'mock'

No idea, but seems like something wrong with your environment.

I see you are using conda, try conda install pytest-mock instead.

I tried the same for the python prompt, and it works just fine!

## But down here, in same env, it just works fine.

@dazza-codes Given your stacktrace there pointing to:

use_standalone_module = parse_ini_boolean(
config.getini("mock_use_standalone_module")
)
if use_standalone_module:
import mock

it sounds like you configured pytest-mock via mock_use_standalone_module to do exactly that.
