The current pypi/snipe has been inactive for 10 years and has not received any updates during this period. In contrast, our new Snipe tool is actively developed and maintained, with a growing user base and significant usage expected following our preprint publication.
Given the extended period of inactivity of the existing package and the substantial active development and community engagement with our new tool, I believe that the retention of the “snipe” name for our project aligns with the principles of PEP 541.
