On a horrific idea of hashing user files

Why not making it optional? Am I the only one who never had a problem because of tampering with the files and actually needed to do so?

We can understand how this may inconvenience you, but things will likely get much more convenient in the future. We have reasons for doing things as we have and there's already been considerable payoff.

For now if you don't like the way we're doing file storage then stable is your best bet 👍 .

I read the post you linked, but it doesn't seem to do a good job on explaining why this is good for the end user, especially for mappers and skinners who frequently need to edit images or text files within the game. I trust you when you say that this is better, but if it's not too much of a bother could you elaborate on some more of the decisions that went into this?

1. Title and poll are separate, yet poll provides clear +1, 0, -1 options;
2. also poll is not to proof that this is horrific, because it asks a separate question, about did it make your life as a player easier or not, since this is what was stated in FAQ about hashing (some users experienced problems because of antivirus and other stuff)

Now I think that it's you who tries to confirm something.

upd: to keep it completely clear, I understand that it makes something in osu code easier, yet it's barely usable for players. I downloaded, like, 2 separate open-source utilities to extract files from osu (the only reason I didn't continue whining in this thread).
