I never use a file manager that does not have a dual pane view and advanced features (an example would be Krusader, then Dolphin in the Linux world. Altap Salamander and Directory Opus).
At a minimum Cosmic File Manager needs to be dual pane. After that adding things like the ability to connect to remote systems using sshfs, comparing directories, pressing a hotkey to view a file, ftp / sftp on one side and local file system on the other side, etc. etc.
If you're going to build a file manager, please go all out ... go for the win ;-)
