Should applet popups appear alongside the dock instead? #286

I think it would be nicer in this configuration if the dock forms a sort of visual boundary that applet menus don't cross. I guess when the dock is short the panel will take the corner anyway, so it might be the only configuration where the boundary would be needed. Not sure if that is easy to implement. |

I mean just for visual reasons it might be a good idea to try and constrain popups to areas outside the shell-components. But in general popups are short-lived, so interacting with anything on the dock, should close the popup anyway. Which means I don't see this as a functionality bug. It is just visually displeasing. |

Currently if the dock is positioned to the right and the panel to the top, this happens:
Having the popup block the dock might make it difficult to access other dock applets while it's open.
I'm opening this discussion to determine if it would it be better to have the popup appear alongside the dock instead?
