Here is an example and it looks like legend options does not affect at the chart at all.
If I change legend font size or add showlegend: true, legend: {"orientation": "h"}} it is still the same

Ah right. This probably belongs in the now closed On-par Polar milestone. As you'll probably notice a lot of things don't work like the rest of the library for rose plots.

Unfortunately, rose plots are deprecated. It is unlikely that we'll attempt to fix this bug. What we should do is to add (back) a version type: 'area' traces in the realm of the new and (much) improved polar charts.

There's already an item about this on #2255, so I suggest we move the discussion there.
