License Change

I just noticed that Planka as of v.1.10.2 changed license from MIT to AGPL. I personally don't have any problem with this as I'm using this anyway as a single user instance for myself however I have some questions about this:

1. Can you elaborate on the reasons behind this change?
2. Why is the license change not listed in the release notes?
3. Should a license change to a more restrictive license (as is with MIT -> AGPL) be considered a breaking change and thus lead to an increase of the major version (as in SemVer)?

1. The companies behind PLANKA decided to continue with 2 seperate versions. An Open Source and a supported Corporate Version. Even though providing the Open Source version to all is important to us, we need to protect our own interests.

2. We will add this in the release notes.

3. The version numbers are increased for technical and feature changes only. Once we hit important features the numbers will increase accordingly

I'm confused. What companies? I thought Planka is property of Maksim?

And could you please share a bit on your plans for the different versions?

Hi Valentin,

PLANKA is much more than just the Open Source version and has outgrown itself in the corporate version. While we will also take features over to the Open Source version others will be available exclusively for corporate customers. As always in real life there's a lot going on behind the scenes and several people are now working day by day because we aim to make a living out of this.

For obvious reasons, the important parts and plans regarding the corporate version are closed to the public for now.

I'm afraid you have to be a little more patient for that. Once it's been released we will comunicate this here at once.
Until then we don't provide anymore informations about that.
