loads that make 5,000 requests per second into background noise, beaten untested,
consumer-focused operating systems into high-performance enterprise servers, and
automated entire network operations centers.

in five locations. Responsibilities included architectural reviews
of business applications, design and architecture of server
infrastructure, and technical leadership for Systems Engineering
and Network Operations teams. Oversaw data center growth of over
100%. Architected application deployments to sustain transaction
growth of over 30% monthly, and seasonal peaks approaching 1,500%.

Decided which business application components can and should move
to Mac OS X, resulting in large-scale hardware and capital savings.
In one case, moving an application from over $4 million in IBM
hardware to less than $400,000 of Xserve G5 hardware. Achievements
include the development of an internal web-based asset and software
management platform, Xcentral; the development of an automated,
sustainable systems installation procedure usable without a
network; a leading role in Apple’s adoption of Oracle Database 10g,
and a close working relationship with both management and engineers
in Core OS, Server Software, Hardware Engineering, and other Apple
teams. Presented at WWDC 2005 and Oracle World 2005.
