All notable changes to this project will be documented in this file.

The format is based on Keep a Changelog and this project adheres to Semantic Versioning.

[1.0.0] - 2018-06-13

Added

  • Initial release

[1.1.0] - 2018-08-02

  • Significant updates in the Fluid Dynamics section, including adding a few new concepts, moving all the fluid flow types that had been under "Fluid flows" to be more directly under "Fluid Dynamics Research Areas", and cleaning up some overly detailed terms.

  • Fix lowercase label that should have been uppercase

[2.2.0] - 2021-12-22

  • Identifier normalization: standardizes all PhySH identifiers to use the full UUID format with hyphen characters. A new file, uuid_mapping.csv, is included which shows the pairing of old and new identifier values where they have been changed.
  • delete identifiers that had been deprecated in previous releases. The file 'deprecated.csv' lists those old identifiers that have now been removed, and suggested replacement id's if any.
  • combined mapping file, 'full_mapping_2.0.csv' is also included, which combines both the uuid mapping and the deprecated concept mapping.
  • New concepts added for quantum information
  • New concepts and discipline added for energy science
  • Some additional concepts added in condensed matter

[2.3.0] - 2022-05-23

  • Clearing the backlog with new concepts in AMO, Nuclear and Particles and Fields, as well as a few other additions and fixes
  • 'deprecated.csv' now only refers to the single deprecated concept remaining

[2.4.0] - 2022-11-29

  • Deprecation of "General Physics", with concepts moved elsewhere, in part to "Interdisciplinary Physics".
  • "Classical field theory" and narrower concept "Electromagnetism" have been deprecated in favor of the pre-existing concept "Classical electromagnetism".
  • "Quantum theory" is now "Quantum correlations, foundations & formalism" under "Quantum Information".
  • Also the disciplines "Quantum Information" and "Statistical Physics" have been renamed as, respectively, "Quantum Information, Science & Technology", and "Statistical Physics & Thermodynamics" to more fully reflect their coverage.
  • About 40 other concepts have been added across a variety of disciplines, based on requests since the last release.

[2.5.0] - 2023-06-22

  • Major rearrangement of Biological Physics, now labeled "Biological Physics & Neuroscience", with significant additions and resorting within Research Areas.
  • A handful of little-used or ambiguous concepts in this area have been deprecated. Recommended replacement concepts are listed in 'deprecated.csv'.

[2.6.0] - 2024-04-23

  • Additional terms relating to Artificial Intelligence have been added.
  • Roughly one hundred additional suggestions for new concepts or changes to existing ones made up to this point have been considered and incorporated where appropriate, across almost all disciplines.
  • Nothing additional has been deprecated in this release.
