It could be useful to be able to get the original image format after using ImagineInterface->load; or at least a way to save an image in its original format.

Saving in original format doesn't implies saving using the original name :)

Hello @arnaud-lb , as I mentioned in #232, this is the current expected behavior and there is no trivial solution to your issue.
As both #208, #232 and yours are about original format / path, it requires to inject some metadata in the ImageInterface to solve this. There is no way at the moment to get the original format from the GD resource.

As it should considered as a feature request, I prefer to get a single issue to discuss this feature request and I choose the older one.
