Studio search is still not working as expected

I've opened this issue to track whether we want to get the fix for the parent issue linked above into the 1.2 maintenance release that @kathy-phet, @arouinfar, and I have been discussing. At the time of this writing, 1.2.0 is not yet out but is getting close, and we are likely to follow it up with a release that includes fixes for some items that were deemed non-blocking for 1.2.0.

@kathy-phet - should this be a part of the maintenance release?

Over Zoom, @kathy-phet said that yes, this should be a part of the first maintenance release after 1.2.0 goes out.

Unassigning until the publication of the next maintenance release becomes one of my high priority items.
