The model indicates a range of 3N/m to 12N/m values for the spring constants. But a user wrote in suggesting these default values are far from "normal" spring values:

The simulation is internally consistent, but somewhat unrealistic. If I use the ruler as marked, in cm, I get a spring constant of 0.033 N/cm. However, the weakest spring scale in ordinary use has a spring constant of 0.25 N/cm. The weak spring in your simulation would be incredibly floppy, and I just think it would be better to have a spring more consistent with the real world.
The spring scales I use in class range from 25 to 500 N/m. The floppiest spring I've ever seen is a slinky, but I don't think I have a scale sensitive enough to measure its spring constant.

Carolina's spring set ranges 25-250 N/m and Fisher Scientific's set is ~10-200 N/m. The springs used in the sim are not comparable to the values found in a typical classroom setup.

Unassigning. We can re-evaluate when this sim is next revisited.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to do this before Adobe deprecated the workaround.
