based on discussion in #6092 (comment):

Owncloud logs the password when using smbclient. I have in my logfiles:

I don't remember that this is logged at all.
Are you sure you didn't manually add a line in smb4php to add additional logging of popen() ?
There is no code there that tells it to log that statement.
Or did you change something in php.ini to log all popen() calls ?
