Support roku tv for playback

While the spotify app is up on my roku tv, I selected that media player in music assistant to play a song and it produced this log

I manage my own devices, the whole network. It's mostly Ubiquity devices (routers, switches, Access Points, 10g aggregators), one D-Link switch (Ubiquiti devices were unavailable at the time I needed it) and an unused Mikrotik switch which I am currently testing. All of them are smart devices, and I manage them all personally. There are 80+ devices altogether (give or take) and dozens of integrations in Home Assistant, all of them working fine, using a variety of protocols. Well, except something in Music Assistant.
Devices do see each other, I can track and manage most of them from my UniFi Network Application.
Music Assistant does see my music SMB share - but oddly enough does not see my Serviio DLNA server.
Another maybe relevant piece of information is: I can turn on and off TVs from Music Assistant, and I can turn their volumes up and down. I can also start/stop the Roku 4K, but I can's modify its volume (Unsupported function).
This means, to me, that up to a point, I can control the devices directly via Music Assistant. I just don't understand why nothing would play on any of them.

Possibly a port conflict or firewall blocking the port.look in the log and it will telll you what port the STREAMSERVER is starting on. Usually 8097

Interestingly, I can't see port 8097 being used, at all.

Update: Some of my devices might be misconfigured in Home Assistant. I was able to play on "media_player.dormitor_tv_2/Dormitor TV" both from Home Assistant's "Media" component, as well as Music Assistant, but there are errors on others.
Roku refuses to play on either, I just blame Roku for being Roku - will move that device elsewhere and be done with it.

I will have to go through all my media integrations (TVs, media players, etc) and reconfigure them.
At least I was able to rule out Music Assistant being the culprit.

Apologies for the slow troubleshooting, I think we're good for the time being.

I also have this problem.

At least for me, I'm also trying to play from Spotify and the problem is that MA is sending FLAC audio to Roku but Roku doesn't support playing FLAC.

Is there a way to provide MP3 or M4A or another supported file type for Roku devices? Or some other way to convert file types somewhere?

Thanks! I enabled that, and have confirmed the media id being passed to my roku TV is MP3, but Roku play still immediately crashes. Seems like something else is going on beyond the codec, I'll keep investigating.

I’m having the same issue.
Forcing mp3 on gets it to try to stream to the roku without the FLAC error. But Roku Play crashes on the roku when trying to launch the stream.

I haven’t been able to get airplay streams to the roku’s to work either as an alternative (doesn’t detect them as airplay players)

Actually, maybe closing is too hasty - figuring out why airplay doesn't work/music assistant doesn't recognize roku tvs as airplay devices would also make playback work.

That seems like the best path forward.

It probably means your device has a bad implementation of legacy airplay 1 (raop) and only supports Airplay 2?

Edit: Yes looks like it uses Airplay 2 https://support.roku.com/article/360057488733 so if it doesn't support backward compatibility then it wont work at the moment.

Yeah, that makes sense. All of these Roku issues make me want to get a non-Roku TV :)
