Troubleshooting pages build and deployment timeout #35197

I have a repo for which GitHub pages was deploying successfully and then began to fail for the last two commits. Inspecting the commit history, I see The failed check fails on the step "Deploy to GitHub Pages" and the log shows I am having a hard time troubleshooting the timeout and the reason for the cancellation. I suspect it could have to do with the size of the artifact being deployed, which has increased over time. |

You are trying to deploy 10GB worth of artifacts to a Pages site.
Copying that much data to our backend takes more than 10 minutes which is our deployment timeout and the reason your deployments end up cancelled. Is there any way for you to reduce the size of the artifacts? You are 10 times over our limit. |

Thanks for confirming that was the issue. It wasn't initially clear to me from the actions log whether the timeout was caused by the artifacts size or something else. I had a hard time finding the size of the artifact, but now I see it in your screenshot and the actions page. Now that I know the artifacts have ballooned, we can find a workaround and delete files to get back under the limit. Update: I deleted files to get the artifact down to a couple hundred MB, and now GitHub pages deploys as expected. Thanks again for the help. |
