Who is eligible for the pack?

If you’re a student aged 13+ and enrolled in a degree or diploma-granting course of study, the GitHub Student Developer Pack is for you. All you need is a school-issued email address and/or official, dated proof of enrollment. For more information about the application process and what documents we accept, please read our Education documentation. You can apply by visiting GitHub Education benefits.

Why do I need to submit documentation to get the GitHub Student Developer Pack?

We want to make it as simple as possible for students anywhere to easily apply and go through the GitHub Student Developer Pack application process, while also keeping our commitment to safeguard our partners and ourselves from bad actors who make our mission difficult.

I don't have a school-issued email address, what are other official proof of enrollment?

If you select a non-academic email or an untrusted academic email, you will be prompted to also upload additional official, dated proof of current school enrollment; such as your student ID, a current registration document, a letter on school letterhead confirming you are a currently-registered student, etc. For more information about the application process and what documents we accept, please read our Education documentation

How long after I submit my application will it be approved?

Applications are generally processed within a few days but may take longer in peak periods such as the start of a new semester. Please note our support team is unable to expedite the review process, so opening a support ticket will not decrease the review time.

At the busiest times of the year, application review times can be up to six weeks

I’ve been rejected, but I’m really a student. What should I do?

You are welcome to re-apply with additional documentation. You may need to provide additional documentation before we can approve your application. A common problem is that the uploaded proof does not have a date that supports a student's current enrollment, or the photo was too blurry. Check out the education documentation on the common reasons an application is rejected and how to correct it.

We evaluate all of the proof that you provide us collectively. This means that when you apply again we consider the additional documentation to be a part of the provided proof from your initial attempt.

My institution doesn’t qualify, but I want the Pack. What do I do?

GitHub’s goal is to help learners of all types. If your institution doesn’t qualify you for the Pack, ask an instructor to apply for your school to become a GitHub Campus partner
