unable to use adonisjs/core/services/hash function within ace commands

  async run() {
    this.logger.info('Hello world from "HashPasswordExample"')
    await hash.make('password')
  }
}

result

$ node ace hash:password-example
[ info ] Hello world from "HashPasswordExample"

   TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'make')
 
   at HashPasswordExample.run commands/hash_password_example.ts:12

I'm at a loss here, any suggestions?

The startApp option must be defined via the options static property https://docs.adonisjs.com/guides/ace/creating-commands#command-metadata
