"Open in external app" failed in Fennec browser

A user reported that in Fennec browser (fork of Firefox) on Android, the "open in external app" button (the geo:// link) didn't bring up Organic Maps, which they had installed. However the "export" function that opens all bookmarks in Organic Maps does work.

I wonder if this is just a bug with Fennec with opening geo:// links. Or maybe there's a quirk that we could work around. Also, maybe it's for all of Firefox.
