Hi everyone!
Thank you all for the tremendous efforts you have put into your contributions and submissions in the last 20+ days. The energy in here was contagious!
We would like to receive feedback from you about the contribution phase, especially if you were able to submit a final application. Please fill this form as soon as you can.
The mentors will be reviewing the submissions, and will be working with the Outreachy organizers on selection. We know that many of you worked very hard on your submissions, and we would like to let you know that we really appreciate it (as will the learners who will benefit from them)!
A word of encouragement: It's important to let you know we received quite a number of applications. The field is competitive, and the chances are that even people with good applications might not get selected, because of the selection limit. We don't want this to discourage you, but we feel like this is something that's worth being aware of, so that your expectations are realistic.
Also, we would like to let you know that if you enjoy doing the things we do at Oppia, and you're still interested in helping out with the lessons, there is more for you to do!
However, you are not obligated to do this, and this does not affect your chances of being selected! Here are quick links to the opportunities that are available:
Creating practice questions: please apply to join using this form
Creating lesson art/images: please apply to join using this form
Creating translations for lessons (Arabic, Hindi (in devanagari), Igbo, Nigerian Pidgin, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Yoruba) : please apply to join using this form
Conducting learner feedback studies: please apply to join using this form
Creating science lessons: please join using this form
Reviewing and fixing lessons: please apply to join using this form
Helping out in some other way: please raise a Q&A and explain what you'd like to help out with.
If you have filled any of these forms, and have not gotten a response in 72 hours, please send me or @Raffysul an email at [email protected] or [email protected], so we can follow up and get you a response ASAP. We apologize for the delay some of you have experienced in getting a response from team leads. We are working to make the process more efficient.
You're also welcome to use the GitHub Discussion board to coordinate or chat (e.g. if you'd like to find ways to bring the lessons to students in your home country). Again, we want to emphasize that these are just opportunities to help out if you would like to continue doing so, and they are not at all a requirement for Outreachy!
Lastly, thank you once again for your contributions. We look forward to getting in touch again when the selection period ends!
