Response: For your application and contributions to be considered, you’re to work on all the required tasks.
Response: You are only required to submit at least 1 lesson effectiveness research, but you can submit more than one. There’s no limit to the number of students who have to participate, but you can use a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 2, to make your report more detailed.
Response: Yes, you can proceed with other tasks while working on the learners’ feedback research. Ensure to carefully read and adhere to each task's guidelines.
Response: It is preferable to use a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 participants for each lesson effectiveness study.
Response: For this project, and the Outreachy contribution phase, you can ignore the initial Pre-Test form. This form is to help students determine what Maths topic they have the capacity for. For this contribution phase, you have been told to select either of these Maths topics: Percentages, Decimals. Only make sure the students you are testing the lessons with know the prerequisite skills for each lesson. This can be found on the first card of each lesson.
For example, under Fractions number 1, the prerequisite skills are:
Know the counting numbers
Be able to tell if one counting number is bigger or smaller
Response: You can review lessons on any topic of your choice.
Response: You should write the two topics in separate learners' feedback reports.
Response: You should email the point of contact for the topic you carried our learners’ feedback on, and a mail will be sent to you containing your pre-and post-test results
-I have created my 'Oppia's Project' folder as directed. After filling in the contribution details like the links, should I submit a final application?
Response: No, don’t submit a final application yet till you’ve recorded all your contributions. Note that once you submit your final application, it’s impossible to edit it.
-Can someone direct me to a link to how to create a script and skill table?
Response: Read through task 2 in the required tasks for this project, and check the samples provided to guide you through the task.
Response: Carefully read through the description of the required tasks and once you’ve made a contribution, click on the “record your contribution” and add the link to your folder.
-I have applied to the optional task (create practice questions) but I still haven't received a confirmation. Can you help me with this?
Response: You’ll receive feedback soon on your application. If you have not received feedback within 2 days, point the attention of the mentors to it in the Q & A on the discussion channel.
Response: Fill in the dates you finished that particular task or the day you submitted it for the mentor's review.
Response: You were supposed to begin the recording of your contributions as soon as possible before the project was closed.
Response: You won’t be able to edit your outreachy final application after the contribution phase has ended, but you can make edits on your submission from the folders you submitted. However, we advise you finish up your contributions by April 2nd.
-Is it okay if one continues contributing to the Oppia project after the contribution stage has ended?
Response: Yes, you can continue contributing to all Oppia projects after the contribution phase has ended. There are various teams to join if you are interested. Drop a question in the Q & A section, and the mentors will provide further details.
-What format should we use to fill out the Project timeline, should it be in a typed format?
Response: You can choose to type out your project timeline or create a Google document for it, it doesn’t really matter since the project timeline will be presented to you by the mentors if you’re selected.
-I’m filling out my application and I need clarity on the sections “Past experience with this community” and “Past experience with other communities”. If I have no past experience with Outreachy or other communities, am I to leave those sections blank, please?
Response: If you don’t have any past experience with this community or others, you can state clearly that you have no prior experience.
