I think changing a field to (local language) would be a good idea, and that's realistically what map users would care about the most. Providing translations is a less important topic.
There can be multiple local languages in some regions.
Which one we should choose?
We would have to maintain a list for each country.
Perhaps it exists somewhere already?
I think allowing users to add multiple languages themselves is the right way to resolve this. Trying to check the local language of a country would be quite difficult to maintain on our end (unless there's a ready solution). I also thought of a small indicator inside the code description for better readability, like (pl 🇵🇱). This would make working with multiple languages easier and reduce the chances of errors.
It was reported on discord by some users that current form's location description field is confusing.
Currently it populates
defibrillator:location:<lang>
tag and site's language is used to determine tag.User said that he didn't notice that site was set to english but they provided the description in local language.
