@wolfgangfengel @jsuchome @kkaempf @deadpoint Can you provide any pointers?

Not sure what you're trying to achieve here @dblock , @bbarani
https://github.com/opensearch-project/opensearch-build#making-a-release is about making a release, not about packaging for specific distributions.
https://github.com/opensearch-project/project-website has generic rpm package, also not targeting specific distributions.

If you know of a site that provides pointers to Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc. where openSUSE is missing, then I'd be happy to see my efforts around security:logging/opensearch mentioned there.

@kkaempf I was thinking just a paragraph similar to https://github.com/opensearch-project/opensearch-build#releasing-for-freebsd to help with discoverability for distributions such as Debian and openSUSE. For the downloads, we have opensearch-project/opensearch-build#28 open for Debian, I think we need something new on the downloads page that targets specific distributions.

@kkaempf I was thinking just a paragraph similar to https://github.com/opensearch-project/opensearch-build#releasing-for-freebsd

Understood. But this paragraph is about OSses in general (Linux, BSD, Windows, ...) and not about specific Linux distributions.
It would be interesting to hear what the opensearch-build maintainers have to say.

For the downloads, we have opensearch-project/opensearch-build#28 open for Debian, I think we need something new on the downloads page that targets specific distributions.

Yeah, that would be nice. However, opensearch-build has almost 2000 issues meanwhile and the maintainers haven't closed/fixed number 28 yet. 😞

I did make 200+ PRs in this repo if that's what you're asking :)

Your help would be much appreciated! We don't have to start with deb.

I think we would be "barking up the wrong tree" 😉

opensearch-build seems to be the wrong project. Imho, there should be a "RPM download" section in the main project's documentation with links to various distribution-specific artifacts.

I think I agree, care to open an issue in https://github.com/opensearch-project/documentation-website @kkaempf?

We still do want something here that says "people do something after every release for openSUSE", no?

We have documentation on RPM: https://opensearch.org/docs/latest/install-and-configure/install-opensearch/rpm/. Closing this issue.
