We welcome new contributors to the Climsoft project, please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

One of the most important ways that people can get involved with Climsoft is to join in with the discussion about the development of the software online at https://github.com/opencdms/Climsoft

The image below shows the project website. Once you are logged in, click the Watch button (circled in green) and choose "Watching - be notified of all conversations" to receive email updates about the development discussion.

Ways to contribute without writing code

The easiest way to get involved is to comment on current issues that are being discussed (click the Issues tab, circled in red above). You can also submit a new bug or issue.

Issues you can get involved with without writing code include:

  • Helping translate the software into another language
  • Checking and updating the software documentation
  • Installing and testing new versions and submit bug reports

If you get involved with any these tasks then progress will be recorded on one of the project boards (see the Projects tab)

Ways to contribute by writing code

  • Get involved with the discussions on open issues, if you see an issue that you would like to submit a solution for then you can be assigned to the issue, you will also be assigned a mentor and someone to review any code that you write
  • You can look through the latest version of the code using the Code tab (circled in red)

The project wiki (see the Wiki tab) gives more information for new contributors
