We've largely over the years had separate email addresses (at different domains) for all our projects (e.g. [email protected], [email protected])
I'm suggesting here that we change this so that all our email addresses always use the @oaf.org.au domain.
Why?
Two reasons:
It makes it clearer that you are contacting a wider organisation. People often think that we're the government when they contact PlanningAlerts for example. If we used the oaf.org.au email address instead maybe people would take a step back and go what's oaf.org.au? Or maybe not. Also it would be slightly more obvious from the get-go that the project is run by OpenAustralia Foundation.
It would simplify the email setup somewhat. We wouldn't need to maintain domain aliases inside google mail.
How certain am I that this is a good thing to do?
Not completely certain yet. On one level it feels like it could make things a bit better but I just have this sneaky feeling that it could make things more confusing in other ways, perhaps unanticipated ways.
