support double dragon Neo-Geo(MAME Emulator) or PS ？

I want to train an AI on the game Double Dragon (there are many versions of this game, but I'm looking for the 1995 fighting game released on Neo-Geo and PS1).

However, it seems that gym-retro does not support Neo-Geo and PS1 ROMs. Is there any way to do this? I have thought of a few solutions myself:

1. Look for a ported version of the game on other game consoles (such as Nintendo Game Boy), but I have not found one.
2. Find a way to make gym-retro support Neo-Geo or PS1, but I don't know how to do that.
3. Use a different library to learn reinforcement learning instead of gym-retro.

@binarytom a fork called stable-retro now supports FBNeo (alternative to MAME) that supports arcade games:
