What do you think about including the MathJax JS only on pages where the content or headings have TeX markup present. This could be achieved by lending some code from the standard TeX filter in Moodle (https://github.com/moodle/moodle/blob/master/filter/tex/filter.php) and then conditionally including the MathJax JS on the page.
This would lower the overhead of users browser by avoiding loading the MathJax JS library when it doesn´t have nothing to do :)
