- 2 cups Sugar
- 1 1/2 cup Crisco (lard)
- 4 eggs
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 lb seeded raisins
- 4 cups oatmeal (quick-cooking rolled oats)
- coconut, chopped nuts, or both
Cream together sugar and Crisco, then add eggs, 1 at a time. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Add raisins and rolled oats. Mix and roll on a lightly-floured board, turning often. Cut into 1/4 inch squares. Sprinkle some extra sugar on top if desired. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheight for 15 minutes.
