Fork, Commit, Merge - Medium Issue (Rust)

Create a Temperature Converter in Rust

Note: You don't have ask permission to start solving the issue or get assigned, since these issues are supposed to be always open for new contributors. The actions-user bot will reset the file back to previous state for the next contributor after your commit is merged. So you can just simply start working with the issue right away!

Navigate to the tasks/rust/medium/src directory from the root of your project.
You can do that in Terminal with the command: cd tasks/rust/medium/src.

Then open a file called main.rs. The goal of this task is to create a program in Rust that converts temperatures between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

Task Details:

  • Prompt the user for the temperature value.
  • Prompt the user for the current unit (Fahrenheit or Celsius).
  • Convert the given temperature to the opposite unit.
  • Display the converted temperature to the user.

Acceptance Criteria:

  • The program should handle both Fahrenheit to Celsius and Celsius to Fahrenheit conversions.
  • The program should be properly documented with comments.
  • Ensure error handling for invalid inputs.

To test the program make sure that you are in tasks/rust/medium/src directory and then type cargo run to run the program.
If the program works as requested in the task, you are ready to make a pull request!

To work with this issue, you need to have Rust installed to your local machine.
Check out README.md for more instructions of installing Rust and how to make a pull request.
