As a user of NGF
I want to have a URL Rewrite Filter for my paths for my API
So that I do not have to change my clients when I change my paths on my backend application.

Acceptance

  • The URLRewrite filter is implemented as defined for HTTP Routes here
  • All defined functionality for 'PreciseHostname' and 'HTTPPathModifier' are implemented.
  • The compatibility doc is updated to include HTTP Rewrite filters

We chose to place this at a low priority for now until we see feedback from users that this feature is needed.

Recently, we've received feedback from KubeCon, Ingress users, and internally that URL Rewrite was required in their environment in order to use Gateway Fabric in their environment. Thus, we are looking at implementing this in 1.2.
