As a maintainer of NGF
I want to collect the cluster platform and Kubernetes version from all participating NGF installations
So that I can ensure NGF works well in the most popular platforms
and so that I can look for new up and coming platforms to ensure compatibility with.

Acceptance

  • The platform NGF is installed on (AKS, GKE, etc) is recorded.
    • AKS, GKE, OpenShift, EKS, Rancher, k3s, and KIND are specifically tested for if needed
    • If the deployment does not match the above platforms, NGF either captures something relevant to the platform OR the platform is marked as "Other"
  • The version of Kubernetes is collected.

We do this in our test suite, we might be able to use the same pattern: https://github.com/nginxinc/nginx-gateway-fabric/blob/main/tests/framework/resourcemanager.go#L384
