Add back custom text/RSS feeds in Scrolling Bar?

This fork is really cool and definitely an improvement from vbguyny's version, but something I really like from his is the ability to add custom text/RSS feeds, like a news feed, for example.
If this is already possible by using custom.js, could you link how to do so?
