The online Internet Measurement Village 2020 starts tomorrow, Wednesday 2020-06-10.

There will be a one-hour video live stream nearly every weekday, for three weeks until Friday 2020-07-03. These are talks that were meant to have happened at this year's Internet Freedom Festival, before that event was cancelled.

The streams will be broadcast on OONI's YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/c/OONIorg. You can try streamlink (with or without Tor) if you don't want to watch in a browser. youtube-dl also works for downloading live streams.

You can ask questions using the chat interface under the YouTube video (needs a Google account), or in Slack/IRC.

Starting today in 10 minutes: RIPE Internet Measurements with Vesna Manojlovic & Emile Aben.

There were many web pages linked in the talk. Here are just a few of them.

Somewhere in the video there is a voucher code for 1 million free RIPE Atlas credits—you'll have to watch to see what it is.

Starting in 20 minutes: Internet Censorship, DNS poisoning and Phishing in Venezuela with Andrés Azpúrua.

A point that was interesting to me: in April of this year, many blocked sites became accessible shortly after a fire occurred at a building of CANTV, the largest ISP in Venezuela. Sites that had been blocked in multiple ways (DNS, HTTP, SNI) became blocked by DNS only.

Desconocemos si el incendio afectó las capacidades de censura e interceptación de tráfico más sofisticadas de CANTV, para lo que se usan equipos especializados, si fueron desactivadas accidentalmente o como parte del proceso de mantenimiento.

We do not know whether the fire affected CANTV's censorship capacity and its more sophisticated traffic interception, which uses specialized equipment; or if they were deactivated accidentally or as part of a maintenance process.
