Falco (https://falco.readthedocs.io/en/latest/, https://nf-co.re/modules/falco/, https://doi.org/10.12688/f1000research.21142.2) is a reimplementation of FastQC that is apparently 2-4X faster and gives identical results.

@mikemc thanks for pointing this out, I'd be happy to swap FASTQC with this, I'll have a chat with Will.

We're planning to take another crack at this in Q1 2025, though it's lower priority than #74.
