Hi,

I've designed an NES/SNES/PS2 controller board (if you'd like to take a look and/or have any suggestions to modify it!) and, while I'm waiting for it to be manufactured, I'm thinking about the menu key combination.

Several SNES games really need the select+R button to actually play properly.
eg Super Metroid
(It uses Select +L and Select + R several times throughout the map, but, in normal gameplay, depending on the control system, it can be widely used during boss battles)

I know there's other games that I came across the combo being used in, but, can't remember off the top of my head.

Can we either pick a different one, or disable it altogether?

I'd prefer unused buttons or the S1/S2 onboard buttons only,
eg Playstation L3+R3, or L2+R2.

Because the firmware is written for both DS2 and SNES controllers, I'd prefer some combinations that work for both.

Can we get an option then, to completely disable the shortcut, if you don't want to allow L3 + R3?

I just need something that doesn't interfere with game playing.

This is an interesting problem.
@nand2mario A suggestion would be to long-hold R+SELECT (somewhere around 500ms to trigger the menu. That would meet both goals of being accessible for different controller types while not interfering with intended gameplay.
