Since it's hard to find every place people commented, I am collecting them here:

Should we also have constants MPI_ABI_VERSION and MPI_ABI_SUBVERSION that are defined in the header? That way applications can compare what they compiled against with what they actually get. Otherwise I don't see the value ABI versioning.
