Searching codebase for 'f_spines' comes up blank bar documentation. It does return a previous commit where it was implemented. It was in pweave/processors.py which I think is now pweave/processors/base.py in which the method savefigs does not seem to have been implemented.

Happy to help and PR if you can confirm I've not got the wrong end of the stick.
